Greetings Weedsport Residents;

A huge thank you to the crew at the DPW for providing extra effort with all the tasks involved with keep our village operating while being short staffed.
In relation to being short staffed at thew DPW the village board has filled a laborers position within the DPW. Kevin Gonyea has been hired as laborer and will begin employment with the Village of Weedsport on Monday April 5th.
The DPW has asked me to remind residents that when sorting recyclables please be aware that corrugated cardboard needs to be recycled and cannot be put out for trash pick-up.
The village has completed its police reform collaborative as directed per executive order given by the Governor Cuomo This was submitted to the state prior to the April 1st deadline that was placed on the executive order as a condition for municipalities to maintain eligibility [TW1] for various state funding.
As part of the reform collaborative, feedback from the Collaborative Community Survey that many of you graciously replied to was incorporated into it.
Thank you to everyone who replied to the survey. There were many good recommendations suggested in the survey and all of them are being taken under consideration. One common recommendation was a request for more community interaction with the police department and plans are currently under development to achieve this request.
As a reminder from our police department: The Village Police Department is dispatched through the Cayuga County 911 Center and if you need emergency police assistance CALL 911.
The fire department has received delivery of a new squad truck that was purchased by the membership through funds obtained by their various fundraising events. Final fabrication of this vehicle is in the works and is estimated to be in service in July of this year.
